I love BBQ.

StarnsHave I mentioned my love for BBQ? Because I LOVE BBQ! Slap anything on the grill and it is better. But old fashioned, southern, smoked meat is the best.

Because I have been spending so much time down South lately, I have been on a quest to find my favorite BBQ here. Starn’s is hands-down the best in Paducah. Their pulled pork is my goto comfort food. I literally buy 3 lbs and a bottle of their own fabulous sauce and will eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner until it is gone. I stopped and bought Coca-Cola in glass bottles on my way home to round out my perfect hermit mode food for the next few days.  The pulled pork I brought home was tender and melted in my mouth. It was juicy, smokey (but not over powering)  and super yummy.

As you can see from their packaging, they offer Pork, Ham, Beef, Turkey and Bologna. I have had all of the above except the Bologna. I’m waiting on my guy to get here so we can try it. I polled the lunch crowd the last time I was in there and they said it was delicious. I’m not a big fan of cooked bologna, but I will give it a try.

If you are ever in the Paducah area stop in at Starn’s a get a pound or two for the road. They are only about two miles off the interstate at exit 4. Put 1008 Joe Clifton Drive, Paducah, Kentucky into your GPS and let it guide you your destination. You might even be able to smell the yummy deliciousness before you get there. And tell them Julie sent you.

This girl is cookin’.

DeviledEggsRecently I responded to my friend Debbie Lawrence’s call out for writers. She has simpleplate.net, which is an awesome southern food site, along with some other things too. Well, she asked me to write and now I’m a regular contributor. To say I am excited is an understatement. I will be posting every Tuesday. I’m taking the angle of how single girls can cook. A lot of my friends have assumed because I was single, I couldn’t cook. I am about to prove them wrong (I hope.) My first post, Single Girls Can Cook, was posted today. My Heavenly Deviled Eggs are super simple and yummy.

Every Tuesday I’m gonna take a break from my life and buzz over to Simple Plate and enjoy some Southern goodness in the kitchen. Come on along with me.
